The Mid Hants Railway celebrates its 35th Anniversary in 2012 The Watercress Line re-opened on 30th April 1977. 2012 marks our 35th Anniversary Alresford station Winter 1976 before the first service on 30th April 1977. The wrecks in the cattle dock were fully restored, 31806 having recently been overhauled and back in service Since running our first steam train in 1977 we have come a long way The watercress line has an enviable fleet of large steam locomotives including Black 5 No 45379 Lord Nelson tackles the 1 in 60 climb from Alton going over the alps on the watercress line U Class 31806 with our wonderfully restored heritage freight train Our stations have ben lovingly restored to reflect the 1950-60's period. Our staff ensure a warm welcome! Since opening we have carried and delighted 3.8 million visitors. Help us reach 4 million in 2012!
