Thanks to all those who donated to the succesful recent appeal for funds to move it, the 3 car Class 127 DMU given to the railway by the Dart Wyvern group from the South Devon Railway has now arrived. The appeal was successful enough that we have a little money left to put towards returning the unit to traffic, but of course we can also make use of more, so it's never too late to give!

A group is being formed to take care of the unit, and the first working session will be on Saturday 18th February at Alresford. We hope to have the unit serviceable for the watercress festival on the 20th May, so watch this space!

Work has continued within the motor coach including the replacement of the gouged/etched droplight windows.  At time of going to print there where 8 side windows and 15 drop light (Door) windows in the whole of the unit still needing to be replaced!  The wooden window frames again overhauled by David Edwards from the Wagon group to whom we are grateful.

INTRODUCTION

Seasons greetings and welcome to this Winter edition of our newsletter. Highlight of this edition is the authorisation of repairs to the Generator, as announced in the Special Supplement in November. The decision to transfer the repair work was made because Knowlton and Newman’s proposal and quote for a complete rebuild was beyond our budget. Having contacted Mike Jacobs, the owner of Peak 45060 Sherwood Forester, we were put in touch with the company responsible for the successful ...
