It has been two weeks since the last Medstead report and much has happened in that time.
David Edwards has completed all the outstanding items to Palvan B 776446, and Ian Johnson with Roy Andrews has completed the complex stove pipe to the pot bellied stove in Brake Van B 953701. Both vehicles have had a "fitness to run" exam, are now available for the next running of the demonstration Freight train on Sunday 5th September.
The inner roof to PMV s1995 is complete with the re-furbished inner vent mouldings also now fitted, and work will start on fitting the new doors to this vehicle in the next few weeks.
Rapid progress has been made on Tube wagon B 730821, with the under frame and ends completed up to first top coat. Good progress has also been made with the side timbers undercover also bringing them up to first top coat. Roy Andrews has also been checking beneath the roller bearing covers where there was little sign of wear. The new floor timbers and bolts have been delivered and the Wagon Group is most grateful to Mark Pedley of the Urie Locomotive Society for the funding for this unplanned additional cost.
