Your Railway Experience visit combines learning opportunities with the experience of travelling through the Hampshire Countryside behind a restored steam locomotive to create a memorable full day visit.
Our learning activities give pupils the chance to get up close to a steam locomotive stored in our yard and hands-on measuring activities.
Pupils will decide the most appropriate measurement system for each part of the locomotive and select how they will record their measurements.
In addition to their maths activity they explore the station, Engine Yard and the bridge used in the filming of Harry Potter. The activities are designed to encourage planning, ‘design and test’ and team work skills. The activity sessions are set out below.
You will be met at Alresford station by one of our Education Department staff who will direct you to your reserved carriage.
The session will include:
• A return journey behind one of our heritage engines
• The opportunity to explore a restored period station
• Education activities lead by the Watercress Line Education Department
