Heatherside Junior School visited us in the autumn term as part of their WW2 studies. They were evacuated by steam train just as children were during the original wartime Operation Pied Piper.
When they reached their wartime evacuee billets they learned from a war time evacuee what the real experience was like. They also learnt how to ‘Make do and mend’ to make their ration coupons go further.
Here are some beautifully written recounts of their experiences.
