"My Wife and I were guests as a Motherís Day treat to the fine dining evening and it is considerable pleasure to write to you with the following comments; We were shown to our table which was very attractive in layout and the culinary delights which followed were most enjoyable both in selection, quality and quantity with the main course being notably served on suitably heated plates.  The bar facility was also very suitable and well stocked to the occasion and it was refreshing to observe that the prices overall were, in our opinion, very reasonable. The result was that our party of four found the evening to be one of much pleasure and enjoyment and this seemed to be the view shared by other diners who had the good fortune to also to be there. It is hardly surprising that the word has got around so as to cause the future evenings to be fully booked until the autumn. Very well done and the many volunteers who give up time to make such fun for people like ourselves deserve our grateful thanks." DS 07/03/16

"Hello, my family have had an excellent day at the railway today and I just wish to make you aware at how pleased we are with the railway. We have been visiting since my eldest daughter was 2 (she is now 11 but still thoroughly enjoyed the day). We have been on Thomas days before, Santa Specials and my parents have taken my daughters on the dining train. Every time we have had a great time.

My twin boys were over the moon to see Thomas today ( I think it is the first time we have managed it without it snowing), ride on the trains, look at the engine sheds etc (and I think the stations look very attractive). One of them loves trains so much that he wants to be a train when he grows up.

The staff were all so friendly and enthusiastic (which for me makes the day extra special). And I think it is excellent value for money. So a big thank you to everyone involved. It is a truly wonderful railway. The best we have been on (and we go on steam railways a lot)." NG 04/04/15

"What an absolutely fabulous day we had today. Please pass on to all those involved. Thoroughly enjoyed - every single bit of it! Station, old fashioned tickets, trains, sitting in first class to and from Alresford, Punch and Judy man, bouncy slide, coffee shop, teacup ride, the fat controller, kids getting a tattoo. "May I congratulate you for the organisation of your 'Thomas' week. On Tuesday, I took my 3-year old granddaughter who had never experienced such an event and she thoroughly enjoyed the day (granddad did too!). The events at Ropley were particularly enjoyable, and I could not fault anything anywhere along the line. We came to the Thomas the Tank Engine day with our grandson, he had a wonderful time, the smiles and excitement said it all! My family aged 22 months to 60 years had an absolutely wonderful time made all the more special by your brilliant volunteers... Especially the most enthusiastic gentleman at Four Marks station & the workmen at Ropley who helped me off the train with two excitable little girls. "Just like to say a big thank you to all of your Staff and Volunteers for making The Day Out with Thomas a very special day yesterday, 21st April 2014, for our Granddaughter Immy, who was 3yr old Yesterday. She was with her brother Will 6yr, their Mummy and Daddy plus Granny and Granddad. It was three years ago that we brought Will to the Day Out with Thomas whilst his Mummy was in Hospital having Immy. I have to say that (Iím pleased to say ) this sparked his interest in Steam and although only just turned 6, a few weeks ago, he has been on the NYM, Kent and East Sussex, RHDR, Bluebell, Severn Valley, Great Central and of course the Watercress several times. Right from the initial contact of meeting the people manning the Car Park to Station Staff and Operators of the trains it made it a day to remember for Immyís Birthday; everyone was so friendly and helpful. "Hi there, just wanted to say a big WELL DONE with your Spring gala, fantastic day!! I've been visiting the railway for the last thirty years, a total of forty seven individual visits and this weekend had to be one of the best, its a great line with so much character and has continued to improve with time. My dad first brought me way back in 1984, all these years on I was still able to share it with him, but this time I brought him instead, we both enjoyed it as much if not more than we did thirty years ago!! "Enjoyed the steam gala on Friday. It was nice to see the Met Tank again as well as Clan Line running along the Mid Hants track. A reminder if indeed one were needed how much some of us have missed seeing Canadian Pacific at recent galas. Congratulations to all involved on the day. "I am writing a big thank you for a Amazing day I had on Saturday 28th December 2013, it was my re-booked Footplate Experience which was meant for my Birthday back in July. I got to ride on SR 9F Class 2-10-0 No. 92212 & the Crew were kind & helpful with answering questions. After the footplate ride, me & my dad jumped into the coaches & went from Alresford to Alton & back to Medstead & Four Marks where we catched the Diesel back to Alton. As we were at Alton, the Diesel Driver 'Bob' invited us up into the Cab & we got to ride all the way back to Alresford in the Cab. Just to finish the day, the Station Mistress at Alresford invited us into the Signal Box, so where it was meant to be a day with one special event became 3. so I'd like to say Thank You again to Everyone on that day & it will be a day I will never forget." "I am just writing to thank you and all the team for a successful and fantastic day. Everyone, from Santa down to the youngest of his Elves were so kind and friendly. The stations and coaches were beautifully decorated and the gifts for the children were excellent and well thought out, all of the youngsters in our coach seemed to be very pleased with what they received. We particularly liked the way that Santa sat down with each child and had a chat whilst the Elves organised seasonal music and singing. Thanks again for a wonderful day." DW

"I visited the line last Sunday for the first time in 25 years, and I was very impressed. Everything about the railway was tidy, well maintained, consistently themed, and friendly. Every member of staff I saw was very smartly turned out and unfailingly helpful. There was a strong underlying sense of quality, safety, and customer focus... I was delighted with my visit. I compliment you all, and I will be back." JA

Fun was had by all, and as a family of 6 we much appreciated the cheapness of drinks and toys in the shops. The people were friendly and the imagination by all was great. "Our little grandson was in awe of seeing and riding on Thomas, and seeing Diesel and other engines, and meeting the Fat Controller, etc. today. My family and I had a lovely day out today, and wish to express our sincere thanks to all who made it possible. The attention to detail and range of activities was marvellous. "Today I took my family... to see Thomas and I just wanted to congratulate and thank your splendid team for an absolutely brilliant day out. I have visited the Watercress line on several occasions in the past (Thomas days, including one year in the snow, and the Santa specials), each time we visit I come away buzzing, and although steam trains do have a certain appeal, the real difference is with the enthusiasm, friendliness and helpfulness of all the volunteers which make the day truly wonderful for me and my children. The volunteers who greeted us at 10am were still cheerful and friendly despite the bitterly cold weather, 5 1/2 hours later. I would love it if you could pass on my thanks to all the volunteers. It is clear how much effort goes in so the good work on the engines and line can continue. It was £48 well spent." NG

Loads of locos, brilliantly run especially with now with the 'new' viewing area opposite Ropley depot. "Hello - I am a member of The Deltic Preservation Society and visited your railway on Saturday for the Diesel Gala. I had an excellent day which was very well-organised by yourselves and the locos operating were superb. All in all a lovely railway line and I would definitely come back again. Well done to all your volunteers who helped put on the Gala and keep up the good work." TB

"Just wanted to say a big thank you to everybody involved with the organisation of the Diesel Gala. I visited the Railway on the Saturday, but due to problems I encountered on that day wasn't able to arrive until 3pm, expecting only to have one quick round trip. Imagine my delight when I realised that the services were running until 10pm. Although I am a diesel Hydraulic fan, I was very impressed with the choice of Diesel locomotives provided.I liked the green 37 and 47. I also liked the southern influence with the 33 and vep, and the thumper. Having grown up in Basingstoke it brought back some lovely memories.All trains were clean, the performance of the locomotives was excellent. All staff I found helpful and enthusiastic and not as I had expected following some past negative comments in the Railway media. I would especially like to congratulate the buffet staff at Alresford for their varied fare on offer, and the fact that they stayed open late! I wish I had found time to sample their curry!
It was also a nice touch to allow access to the yard at Ropley, something that is rare these days.Once again a big thank you to whoever it was that put this wonderful event together, I am very grateful." MS

"May I take this opportunity to thank you and your staff for a really enjoyable day yesterday (Fathers Day) for myself, wife and daughter and three grandchildren. From the moment we arrived to purchase our tickets your staff in the office/shop, platform staff, made us feel very welcomed. As for myself I had been given a booking for a footplate ride which was on "Cheltenham " as a sixty five birthday present. From the start of this experience to the end your loco driver... made me feel at home. He was very polite and explained things about the engine to me, the fireman also showed me around the engine during a lengthy stop at one of the stations. This was something I always wanted to do as a young lad... living in London. Your staff on the train where also helpful in telling my grandchildren about things they could see while on the train. This all adds up to a very enjoyable day, I myself have been to some of your steam festivals and dined on one of your specials, another day trip is going to be put on the calendar shortly. So please pass on my thanks to the staff." PD
