Let the train take the strain as you sit back, relax, and watch mile after mile of beautiful Hampshire countryside pass you by. The soothing sounds of the steam engine and the beat of the exhaust can be heard over the clickety clack of the train passing over the rails; there really is nothing quite like the sight, sound and smell of a steam train!

Our tickets give you all day unlimited travel, enabling you to enjoy this sedate pace of life watching the trains go by at one of our peaceful and picturesque stations full of period charm. It also allows you to take a short meander into the picturesque market towns of Alresford and Alton all on one ticket.

We are open every weekend from January through until the end of October and we also run midweek from May until September. For this 'standard travel' you can book your tickets in advance if you are coming in more than a weeks time, or simply pay on the day when you arrive.

Our West Country Buffet is open every day except Monday for snacks, drinks, hot meals (until 2pm) and take-away cream teas; the perfect accompaniment to a ride on the train!

Throughout the year we run fantastic special events, Sunday lunch and fine dining trains and our famous real ale trains; for these advance bookings are either recommended or essential and they can all be booked here online. We welcome group visits, who often enjoy lunch or a cream tea on the train, and have a wide range of experience days that make very special gifts.

We are located about 7 miles from the historic city of Winchester and can be easily reached by road or by train. You can even travel in one hour from Waterloo station in London direct to Alton station, where we run from platform 3.
