... Because it was dark I couldn't see mileposts, but judging from timing stations and overbridges I estimate the speed at Pewsey was 62mph and the speed at Savernake summit was 72mph. Does this concur with the support/footplate crew's estimates?

If my calculations are correct, average outputs of 2348 indicated HP, 2169 rail HP and 1859 estimated drawbar HP were achieved between Pewsey and the summit. This is excellent work, and if 70mph was reached on the final 1-in-132 gradient then a spot output in excess of 2000 edhp would have been achieved at the summit.

I will be logging the return Salisbury trip on Dec 6th. If Bodmin's performance continues to be superb then it'll be an exciting run.
