MHR Official Website Loco Shed pages comprise the original steam railway docusoap website, updated several times each week. Follow our volunteers as they work to keep steam alive - not dead in a museum! Watch over their shoulders as these wonderful machines are restored, maintained and run; as replacement parts are made and fitted; as MHR carries steam enthusiasts, families and footplate students faster, safer, more stylishly, month on month. Visit us, see, hear, and experience the thrill of powerful steam locos working really hard for mile upon mile up our long, steep gradients.

" The Green Machine doesn't let us down as we speed back through the lengthening shadows of Dorset, Hampshire and Surrey over a freshly-prepared supper of fresh crab and prawns, followed by roast guinea fowl. Late commuters blink as they watch 73096 uncouple at Clapham Junction." (Michael Williams, IoS, 24th July 2004)

The Collett Goods #3205 was a most welcome visitor, and departed on12th July 2004 after spending a couple of weeks at MHR to take the place of the Ivatt which was only days from completion of boiler work. Henry O'Dwyer caught this shot in one of his favourite spots, and it shows the unique silhouette of the loco rather well. |

Lovely Collett Goods 0-6-0 arrived from South Devon Railway late this afternoon for a stay of a few weeks whilst our Ivatt 2-6-2 is having its inner firebox patched. We are grateful both to GWR who had already booked it but allowed us to have it first, and to the loco's owners: 2251 Fund
