Douglas and Thomas had three races in the afternoon for the 'Wednesday Gang (Ropley Sitecare) Trophy'
Thomas won, and here's Ian Metherill (Thomas's driver today) with Arthur Blake, who presented the pallet-shaped trophy.

(Pallets are important to Thomas and the other engines, as they provide the wood to light their fires)

This picture of the young audience at one of his Punch & Judy shows was taken by puppeteer and magician Mr Wizard on 13th August 2002
We had a prompt response from firemen on other railways when we offered the chance to fire at MHR during our Thomas* event.

Goings-on at Ropley station early on 11th August 2002:

    - cooking breakfast on the shovel on the 9F;

    - Douglas* prepares to take his goods train to Alresford; and

    - the scene from Ropley footbridge early in the morning.
       (20 minutes later the platform was full of people!)

It's not just the kids and their mummies, daddies and grandparents who get tired on our Thomas events.

Because the children just don't want to leave, it can be a long day for the volunteers too
