Passengers were clearly surprised and delighted to find a service train hauled all day on 25th June 2002 by #5029 Nunney Castle, on final trials after repairs to axleboxes at Ropley.  It was the first time #5029 had run on MHR metals.  Driver Dave Wiseman tested it comprehensively and Loco Shed staff, cocking an ear in the yard, broke into grins as it barked away towards Wanders Curve.   Brian Simmons sent this pic (101KB) of its return to Ropley
