James The Red Engine gets a new coat of paint

5th August 1999. Staff in the Loco Shed were keen for James to look his very best next day at Alresford when James and Thomas entertained family groups from London and Kosovo.

.... Big Keith was retouching the fiddly red bits.

Later that afternoon James was shunted outside the shed so that a warming fire could be lit in his firebox. Peter (and Brian) polished James' connecting rods until they shone.

Note the yellow RESCO plate
Is this is the only main-line-certified Thomas character steam engine?
