From Thomas's footplate on16th April 2001 the Troublesome Trucks at Ropley are alongside James' service train. A light wind has whipped James's smoke into swirls, misting his face.

Thomas raced James to Bighton Hill Bridge, and later beat Diesel in a Tug-o-War, helped by encouraging cheers from the children.

Commentator Colin Fuller whips up noisy reactions from young onlookers when Naughty Diesel pinches Thomas's trucks, and  then wins them back in an exciting tug-of-war.

Please pass on my regards, and well done, to all at the Watercress Line,

Mike Brown
