From Thomas's footplate
on16th April 2001 the Troublesome Trucks at Ropley are alongside James'
service train. A light wind has whipped James's smoke into swirls,
misting his face.
Thomas raced James to Bighton Hill Bridge, and later beat Diesel in a Tug-o-War, helped by encouraging cheers from the children.

2001:
Commentator Colin Fuller whips up noisy reactions from young onlookers when Naughty Diesel pinches Thomas's trucks, and then wins them back in an exciting tug-of-war. (A naughty Thomas driver cheated by squirting water over the rails under Diesel so his wheels would spin! Yes, you guessed right: it was Driver Dave Pallett!) |
