Tender bearing brasses  for #73096

Machining the white metal for 73096 tender bearing brasses on the big borer
Dave Sibley prepares the Ivatt left-side crosshead for fitting after remetalling.  By afternoon it had been installed.
I'm quite pleased with this shot, again taken by poking the camera into a mudhole door on Ivatt firebox shoulder and just pressing the button.

You're looking vertically down between the firebox inner and outer. You can see the threaded hole for a washout plug, and some firebox stays.

In the Ivatt firebox, Andy Netherwood checks a fusible plug before refitting finger-tight ready for routine 14-month formal boiler inspection
...and here's one of the safety valves dismantled for the same reason.  Gauges will be recalibrated.

Rick Walters was on a day visit (from Switzerland!) to the loco shed, and after lunch we were busy in Bodmin's smokebox, removing the cover over the middle cylinder ready for its routine valve inspection. At least we had shelter from the bitingly cold wind.
