Bittern has bufferbeam cowling trial-fitted

12th November 2003:

Bittern's left-hand cylinder was fitted today

Jim Leven on the outside, John Sowerby and Morley on the inside, bolting the left-hand cylinder in place
Alignment of the cylinders is checked in the traditional way, using piano wire held taut with a bucket of scrap iron

Steve Humby and Roger Ventin sit in their rebuilt and newly-mounted cab of Bittern.  

It will have to be removed for boiler fitting
