Bittern's boiler, back from Chatham, is lifted onto a pair of trolleys by the 45-ton steam crane DS1580 It will be subjected to further hydraulic, then steam tests off the frames (see U-Class #31625 and Bodmin) The smokebox, temporarily bolted on, will be rivetted at Ropley The streamlined boiler cladding and cab will be removed for the boiler to be mounted in the frames |
