Development of our Ropley Site

Improvement to the MHR's Ropley site is being partly funded by grants from the UK Heritage Lottery Fund

The project includes the building of a new shed to house the Loco Shed's wheeldrop, provision of education facilities in what was the Ropley stationmaster's house, and new MPD (Motive Power Depot) offices and mess-room accommodation for loco shed volunteers to replace the ageing 'temporary' building

5th February 2008:

The last of the wheeldrop shed cladding (delayed until the 'temporary' signalbox was removed) has now been installed.

1st March 2004:

'ere. You got it wrong on the Web that the Ropley fence is finished: said Dennis. We've got more to put in yet. There's another lot of posts due back from galvanising

I like these little pineapples you're welding on, Dennis

They're not pineapples, they're pine cones. I reckon they finish the job off nicely.

Dennis Grace shows how the fence panels (below) are constructed

19th January 2004:

How many members of the Building Department does it take to fix a new fence post?

Apparently Dennis (in his Benny hat) can fabricate the panels faster than they can be painted with the necessary five coats
