Bubs grinds a final finish on a gland packing (7 May '98).

The specified material is a closely-guarded MHR secret, but we discovered it lasts very well  (and doesn't wear out piston rods) by a series of tests on the A4: "Sir Nigel Gresley".

The boiler had passed its annual inpection by the insurers, all the motion had been refitted and the engine was ready for service by mid-day on 21st May 1998.
