The shed today: On the left you can see Bittern's frames. On the middle road near the doors is its tender, and yesterday and today we rivetted on the rear dragbox. Andy is sorting out the mounting and joints from the main steam 'dry pipe' to the elbow pipe on which the regulator (under the dome) of #73096 is fitted. The TTO has been sheeted and moved out (13th Jan) awaiting a specialist contractor to fit new exterior panelling both ends. Its place in the shed has been taken by NNX #80223 ... |

| ... which started life as a Mk1 BSK, but was converted
by Royal Mail for carrying high value goods. MHR are now converting it into
a bar coach. It has roller shutter doors both sides, and had had the windows
either side of these blanked off with sheet steel, removed yesterday. In
the foreground, Paddy is preparing windows for fitting, whilst Clive Holliday
prepares the holes to receive them. Clive Meech has already flatted
a third of a side of the paintwork, and Duncan is inside removing old security
grilles.

a Loco Shed store; Tom and tw were doing carriage maintenance; Julie was
somewhere in the bowels of the 9F; and Roger Bray and David Silvey were
taking measurements in the Class 45 diesel

Andy Netherwood was brazing a new blow-down outlet pipe, re-using some old copper tubing
Chris Wrathall and Pete Smith were in the machine shop making up new piston gland packings, and flanges for steam-heating pipes
