Tender corridor end of Bittern

Restoration of Gresley A4 #60019 Bittern

45-ton steam crane was busy tidying the yard: we also set
two trolleys on rails ready to receive Bittern's boiler

After lunch, TSO 4712 was moved from the painting road
in the shed to the yard for refitting of its bogies

Roger was painting wheels for the Black Five's tender, and Harry was ultra-sound-checking the axles for flaws. The white is for the MPI test

29th October 2004:

We took advantage of drier weather to refit side rods onto Bodmin  (see below, 12th October).
Connecting rods were also on by the day's end

Keith paused to light-up whilst making a new baffle-plate for #92212, and modifying the firehole protector ring, both of which had fallen in during a Wizard Express service, which continued uninterrupted. I'd been looking for an angle to show off Duncan's repainting of TSO #4712. It's still on accommodation bogies, but a steam crane will soon be summoned to replace it on its own renovated ones
