| 27th March 2002:
Pic taken (26th March) as we passed on 'Douglas' during the Footplate Experience courses. Bodmin's trailing axle is rising into position with newly-lined axleboxes. Metal particles in axlebox oil-trays indicate incipient axlebox problems, and with the wheeldrop it's not too onerous to remove rods and drop an axle to check properly. While the rods are off, the leading axle will be dropped later today (27th) for inspection. |

| 26th March 2002 was first outing for 'Douglas' ("Class J94-&-3/4") on Footplate Experience (Intro), and it proves ideal for the purpose. It rides very well and has as much room on the footplate as the Ivatt. | |
| 20th March 2002:
Removing the petticoat from Ivatt #41312 for access to boiler flue tubes. Leaking tubes had had their ends expanded, but problem remained so Clive ordered their replacement. |

| 20th March 2002:
Neil Davis under 'Douglas', washing out the ashpan before starting remedial work on a sticking front damper. An unusual view of the motion. Note the four eccentrics (two for each cylinder) between the cranks to operate the valvegear. In Stephenson the curved expansion link is raised or lowered to alter cut-off or to change direction.
