25th March 2001:

"Filming at Ropley, Sunday 25th for the Quick Trick Show, a magic show for children's ITV, starring Stephen Mulhern, here wearing my uniform, with children from Ropley Primary School.

"In steam earlier than usual, the S15 provided steam for this trick (steam ends up in the jar). All completed in time for 506 to go to Alresford for the 10.43 dep."

24th September 2000:  Filming at Alresford 12th - 14th September 2000.

Directed by Mel Smith, "High Heels and Low Lifes" starring Minnie Driver & Kevin McNally. Comedy drama set in modern times. Alresford Station was altered to portray Victoria, Three Bridges & Haywards Heath.

Three carriages received a change of livery by applying gold stripes down the sides, and they actually looked quite good.

4th September 2000:

Firehouse Productions made a commercial for Sky TV on 1st September 2000 at Medstead & Four Marks Station.

Two train spotters standing in the rain. It rained on the day, but not at the right moments, so a rain machine was used - the long pole sticking up.

14th July 2000:
Sharon Davies filming for  the TV travel programme: "Wish You Were Here".

    Sharon had a go at driving the Ivatt tank engine and was surprisingly good at it, coaxing the train along very smoothly.

The Producer had a go too.

Ropley, 24th May 2000
Yorkshire TV  filming a pilot for 'Big Smoke', first of a 16-part comedy/drama.

Train on the move. Filming is in a compartment in the next coach. Director Jonny Campbell is watching the monitor. Standing in the doorway is Rose Keegan who plays the lead role of Gemma. Generator for lights, etc.


Ropley becomes Tidworth for the Day

Gemma runs along a country lane to the station,
clothes falling out of her bag onto the road. She ran
up Station Hill all morning - a very fit young lady.

A Wickham trolley and trailer were used as a tracking platform for one scene.

 2nd June 2000:

Filming 31st May 2000 on Alresford Station for a Daily Mail commercial, to advertise a promotion.

The little boy (Harvey,
aged 2) was great, and
is seen here with his
mother between shots.

Plot:  Little boy, Mum and Dad are waiting for a train bringing Grandmother.

Creative Art Society were filming at Alton on 18th May 2000, to produce material for a "hands on exhibition" being prepared for the new Milestones museum in Basingstoke. This scene is being filmed in B&W using a clockwork camera, and depicts porter loading a trunk on to train early 1900's. Children will be able to pick up a LSWR luggage label, then watch a film of it's use.

Milestones was opened by HRH Duke of Edinburgh on 25th November 2000.
