Rookwood School

Despite the January weather Rookwood pupils braved the rain to explore the construction of the Victorian bridges at Ropley Station.

Back in the dry they worked in small groups  to design and build their own constructions, using only 6 cardboard tubes and newspaper.

They investigated ways to make the paper strong enough to support a model train and guide it safely across a gap.

Every group showed excellent work and they were variously awarded -

Best Teamwork

Best measuring skills

Strongest construction

Best design ideas

Best reinforcement

Working together, they traced a mural of our Kings Cross Bridge using an image projected on the wall.

Thank you all for working hard, keeping cheerful despite the rain and showing great team work.

Sheila, Watercress Line Education Officer.
