The Children's University

Welcome C U Students

The Watercress line is happy to be a Learning Destination and to help you to gain credits towards your Bronze Silver or Gold certificates.

We have Click and Print activity sheets just for children’s University students to download before your visit. If this is tricky or you have forgotten to do this before you came don’t worry, just ask for a copy when you arrive, available from the Information Office at Alresford or the Shop at Alton, just show your CU Passport.

You can base your investigations around lots of different topics:

•    Victorians to vacuum brakes

•    Red Admirals to restoration

•    Boilers to beech trees

There are 3 versions of activity, just click on the images and just choose the one that suits you best.

                Level 1                                       Level 2                                          Level 3

What do I need to do?

Build your own time line on the back of the sheet. You might like to investigate engineering facts, the people who have worked on the railway, buildings, bridges, engines or your own ideas. The choice is yours.

To get your Passport stamped make sure you visit the Information Office on the platform at Alresford station and get a special locomotive stamp on your passport.
