Welcome to The Watercress Line, Hampshire's heritage railway!
In years gone by, the Watercress Line took people on holiday, carried people to war, transported evacuees and moved all the essential goods of the area, especially of course watercress. A visit to the railway is a visit back in time. Most of the steam engines on the railway actually worked on the line in its heyday.
Ropley is the base for our carriage restorations and locomotive overhauls. It also has a spacious picnic area. With this in mind we have altered our timetables so there is time at Ropley to see the locomotives, enjoy a picnic, get some refreshments, or simply enjoy the beautiful Hampshire countryside whilst the engine takes water and other trains pass by. We have slightly extended the length of the trip so that you can enjoy more of scenic Hampshire.

Anyone arriving on the day with symptoms of Covid-19 will be refused entry and not be eligible for a refund. Anyone developing symptoms prior to the event and notifying the railway will receive a full refund.
